 Mission Trips

Faith Christian Academy believes that overseas and stateside mission trips can play a pivotal role in helping young people develop a heart for serving and loving others.

In 2008, 10 students and three adults spent a week volunteering at Puerto Rico Christian School. The team worked as teacher aides and performed odd jobs, such as painting, landscaping, and picking up trash. Mostly, the students formed life-altering relationships with the students by showing and receiving unconditional love.

When asked about the most rewarding part of the trip, rising junior Mitch Hailey paused for a second. “Seeing their smiles,” he said with a grin of his own. “Knowing you are there for the kids and they really like you being there is very rewarding.”

Faith Christian Academy is planning two overseas mission trips for the 2009-2010 school year. In the fall, a team of students and adults will spend a week working at Puerto Rico Christian School in Levittown, Puerto Rico.

The team will focus its time on relationship building with faculty, families, and students — from elementary to high school. The students will serve in various classrooms, serving in any way possible.

In the spring, FCA middle school teacher Lynn Miller and her husband, Steve, will lead a team to work in Guatemala. The high school students will work at the Christian Academy of Guatemala. The school ministers to missionaries’ children. FCA’s team will also visit abandoned children at orphanages.

Servant
Leadership

Faith Christian Academy is dedicated to training and molding students to be strong, servant leaders. Through service projects — both local and overseas — students see how they can serve others as if serving Christ. The world has enough me-first leaders. Faith Christian Academy wants to train up servant-first leaders.
