Elementary

Faith Christian Academy uses phonics to teach children strong reading skills in the early grades. This method is first introduced in preschool and built upon with greater emphasis in kindergarten, first, and second grades. Throughout elementary school, students are encouraged to develop reading skills through oral reading book reports and the summer reading program.

In addition to reading, kindergarten through fifth grade students study a variety of core subjects, including English, math, science, and history. Each morning begins with an age-appropriate Bible lesson. Students are encouraged in their memory skills during elementary grades through Scripture memorization, poem recitation, and classroom play.

Beginning in kindergarten, students receive special instruction in computers, art, library/research, music, and physical education. Each class also has daily recess, morning snack, and weekly chapel. Students’ learning is enhanced as they participate in the Christmas program, special chapels, spelling bees, and speech meet.

Resource help is available for students who need additional help individually or in a small group. Enrichment classes are offered to those students who welcome the extra challenge.
