The desire and vision for Faith Christian Academy grew out of the concern of local parents and citizens. Because of the prevailing humanistic philosophy in society and the public in society and the public schools, a group called “Concerned Citizens” was formed to investigate textbooks in local and county schools. Through this investigation and a final examination, the group realized that God and the principles from His Word were not a part of the school’s curricula.

In January of 1988, by the grace of God, Faith Christian Academy’s school board was formed. The board consisted of nine individuals from the Concerned Citizens group. This board believed that God’s Word, His principles, and His standards for living should by included in a young child’s training and education. Through definite steps of faith, the goal of providing a first class education in a Christian environment slowly became a reality.

The school board prayed and searched for a suitable place for the school’s campus. God answered theses prayers by leading the board to property in Hurt, Virginia. Following the direction and inspiration of God, Mr. and Mrs. W. Curtiss English were instrumental in instilling a vision for the development of the school, as well as providing the facilities in which the school is now housed. In March 1989, construction of the facilities began, and on August 28, 1989 Faith Christian Academy opened its doors and enrolled 36 students in kindergarten through the fourth grade.

God blessed Faith Christian Academy with steady growth in the early years. The 1990-91 school year included kindergarten through the sixth grade. In the fall of 1995, FCA opened a full-fledged preschool – with classes for three and four year-olds. God’s provisions continued, and the school’s first freshman class was added in the fall of 1996. In the spring of 2003, FCA graduated its first class of high school seniors.

Today, Faith Christian Academy offers classes for three years-olds through the twelfth grade with full accreditation granted to Preschool through Twelfth Grades. The school continues to grow and sharpens the learning process each year.

Faith Christian Academy’s strong Christian roots have laid a firm foundation, preparing the school for continued growth. FCA remains dedicated and committed to “train up a child in the way that he should go; [so that] when he is old, he will not depart from it.” By faith, Faith Christian Academy forges ahead, preparing future generations.
