What is j-term?

We know there’s more to learning than just math and language arts. The first week back to school after Christmas Break is when we have J-Term at FCA. The students will begin their normal school day schedule, but they will be taking fun classes of their choosing designed to help them find new interests and potential career paths. Our school administrator meets one-on-one with students to learn about their interests, then recruits teachers and experts in those fields to teach the courses. The goal is for students to explore areas of interest, step out of their comfort zone, and become more familiar with new arts and skills.

The internship preparation program begins with two days of mentoring in communication, leadership, and life skills. Students will meet business leaders, learn how to write a resume, and learn social dining etiquette. The next 3 days are spent interning with local businesses.
