On Friday, October 24, Faith Christian Academy had a fun family event with a purpose. They held a Pink Out Night in support of Breast Cancer Awareness with the volleyball teams. FCA raised $650.00 to donate to Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center in Lynchburg. Admission to the game was a donation.

The FCA volleyball players from the Middle School team and Varsity teams faced off against the Pink Warriors (FCA volleyball dads). Middle School girls were coached by Lexi Bell and Keri Weddle. The Pink Warriors were coached by Leo Cabrera. The Varsity team was coached by Larita Orendorf. The Pink Warrior was coached by Beardy Orendorf.

Mrs Irby, athletic director, said this will become a tradition and she enjoyed doing this event. Thanks to everyone that came out and had a part in this event.

Lexi Bell, middle school volleyball coach, said Pink Out Night was such a special event. The girls and their dads had a friendly, but fierce competition. The middle school girls won one game and dads won one game. This game created memories for all. The varsity players refereed the middle school game and the middle school players refereed the varsity game.  Bell was happy that they were able to have this event and looks forward to doing it again.

Aaron Blaine, dad of Kinley Freeman, a middle school volleyball player, said "There's nothing more special than a father and daughter relationship."

Mark Preston, dad of Avery Preston, a middle school player, said "It was a wonderful experience and I will cherish it for life." The dads played against a great group of young ladies, not to mention his daughter.

#9 Kinley Freeman, a middle school volleyball player, said she liked how they got to spend time with their dads.

#3 Ivie Saunders loved playing against all the dads and getting to spend time with them.

Varsity volleyball coach Larita Orendorf said watching the girls play against their dads was energizing. “There were some moments of good natured jesting back and forth and moments of great game play. The girls enjoyed this good spirited night of competition and I hope it becomes a regular season tradition!”

Andy Moore, dad of two FCA volleyball players, Izzy Moore and Anna Moore said "It was a great night to come together for a great cause. It was a lot of fun to spend time and play against his daughters.” Moore played in both middle and varsity games. He wants to thank FCA for putting together a wonderful evening.

Beardy Orendorf, dad of Paislee Orendorf, a middle school player, said he enjoyed this event. “It was a great way to interact with the players. It was a lot of fun.”

#10 Lianna Cabrera, varsity player, said they had a season of such growth and hard work. “Thanks to coach Larita and assistant coach Leo. The dads were WAY more competitive than the girls thought!”

#1 Natalie Foster said playing against the dads was a fun opportunity supporting a good cause. “Thank you to the coaches for all the time and effort they invested into the players. Good game to the dads although they could've won if they ran after the ball like they run their mouths.”

FCA looks forward to doing this again next year. Great way to end the season with a little fun and a great cause.
