Middle & High School

Choosing the right high school is a significant decision for students and their families. For many, the option of attending a private Christian school presents a unique and appealing opportunity. Here are several reasons why FCA is a beneficial educational environment for middle and high school students:

1. Faith Based Education

For students and families who prioritize faith and values, FCA offers an education that aligns with their beliefs. The integration of Christian principles into the curriculum fosters a sense of moral and ethical grounding. Our Bible classes develop strong Christians through the emphasis of apologetics (defending their faith) and a Biblical worldview. This environment encourages students to develop a strong moral compass, helping them navigate life with integrity and compassion.

2. Smaller Class Sizes

FCA has smaller class sizes, which leads to a more personalized and effective learning experience. Teachers are able to provide individualized attention, tailoring their teaching methods to meet each student's needs. This setting also allows for stronger relationships between students and teachers, creating a supportive and nurturing academic environment.

3. Academic Excellence

Faith Christian Academy (FCA) offers rigorous academic programs designed to challenge students and prepare them for success in college and their future careers. We provide a broad range of advanced courses that promote academic excellence and critical thinking. As partners with Liberty University, FCA proudly offers dual enrollment opportunities, allowing students to earn college credits while still in high school. This collaboration further enhances our commitment to high academic standards and helps students reach their full potential.

4. Strong Community and Support

Attending FCA means becoming part of a close-knit community. The shared values and beliefs among students, faculty, and families create a sense of belonging and support. This community aspect can be especially beneficial during the formative middle and high school years, providing a network of peers and mentors who share similar values and aspirations. At FCA we have introduced a house system designed to foster connection and community across all grade levels. All middle and high school students are separated into Dens and paired with an elementary class. Each Den includes students from kindergarten through 12th grade, creating opportunities for friendships across age groups. This system not only strengthens our school community but also helps older students develop leadership skills and positively influence their younger peers.

5. Extracurricular Opportunities

FCA offers a wide array of extracurricular activities, ranging from athletic teams and music programs to service projects and mission trips. These opportunities allow students to explore their unique interests, develop new skills, and actively serve their local and global communities. Participation in extracurricular activities fosters teamwork, leadership, and significant personal growth.

6. Emphasis on Character Development

In addition to academic achievements, FCA places a strong emphasis on character development. Programs and activities are designed to cultivate qualities such as kindness, empathy, and resilience. This approach to education helps students grow not only academically but also emotionally and spiritually. Our students are encouraged to follow Jesus’ example of Christian service; we roll up our sleeves and help our neighbor. Community service hours are required in middle and high school, giving them opportunities to focus outwardly on helping those around them and being part of their community.

7. College Preparation

FCA offers college counseling to guide students through the college application process. Our Guidance Director provides personalized assistance with college selection, applications, and scholarship opportunities. Our school's reputation for academic rigor can also enhance a student's college application, potentially opening doors to prestigious institutions.

8. Safe and Nurturing Environment

Ensuring the safety and well-being of students is an important consideration to families when selecting an educational environment. Private Christian schools are regarded as places where safety and compassion are deeply valued and actively maintained. At FCA, a strong commitment to fostering respect, discipline, and a sense of community contributes significantly to cultivating a positive and secure atmosphere for all students. This approach not only enhances the physical safety of the campus but also promotes social and emotional security, enabling students to feel protected and valued. This environment supports their growth and development, encouraging them to flourish both intellectually and personally.

Clubs

School clubs offer students a fantastic opportunity to explore their interests beyond the regular curriculum. These clubs can range from academic-focused groups to more creative and recreational ones like art, drama, or sports. We hold elections each year for student government positions. Elected students work with the administration and faculty to create events and vote on important issues that affect the student body as a whole.

One of the key benefits of joining a school club is the chance for students to develop new skills. Whether it's learning to play chess in chess club, improving teamwork and strategy on a sports team, or honing public speaking abilities in a speech club, these activities provide practical experiences that can be incredibly valuable in both personal and academic growth.

FCA also offers Beta and Jr. Beta Clubs, an honor society that promotes academic achievement, character development, leadership, and service among high school students. Founded in 1934, the organization has grown to include thousands of members across the United States. Being a part of Beta Club offers several benefits:

  • Scholarship Opportunities: Many colleges and universities recognize Beta Club membership as a mark of distinction, and some offer scholarships specifically for Beta Club members.

  • Networking: Members have the chance to connect with like-minded peers from different schools, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

  • Skill Development: Participation in Beta Club activities helps students build a variety of skills, including time management, public speaking, and teamwork.

All clubs at FCA are interest driven. If the students would like to start a club for a particular interest, they are more than welcome to bring a proposal to the administration for consideration. Each club must have a staff or faculty sponsor present at each meeting.
