FCA hosts “Feed the Need” fundraiser, packs 10,000 meals for refugee camp in Bangladesh

Faith Christian Academy students put their faith into action on Friday, May 2, as they came together for a special fundraising and service event called Feed the Need. After weeks of raising money, students spent the day packing 10,000 meals to be shipped to a refugee camp in Bangladesh, directly supporting children and families in desperate need.

The initiative not only allowed students to take part in missions and give to those facing hunger, but it also inspired them to think beyond their immediate surroundings and embrace a heart for global service. The packing party emphasized FCA’s mission of educating and equipping students for God’s kingdom, to serve others while spreading the love of Jesus through acts of compassion.

In an excessively “I”-centric world, FCA students are being encouraged to be globally aware, mission-minded, and servant-focused. Through the project, the FCA community filled a genuine need – 26% of Bangladesh’s population are children aged 0 to 14 and 23% of children under the age of 5 are malnourished. When the children in the refugee camp receive the food provided, they not only get a nutritious meal, but also receive the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“It is exciting to see our school community come together and work side-by-side to build relationships, give of themselves, and learn that we all, regardless of age, can have a part in missions.” said Dr. Rachel Hannon, Head of School at Faith Christian Academy. “Participating in Feed the Need will not only have an impact on the other side of the world, but has already made a difference in our students.”

Feed the Need served as both a fundraiser and a discipleship opportunity, strengthening the school’s commitment to cultivating servant leaders with a global perspective.
