Faith Christian Academy was full of excitement on Monday, October 27, as elementary students and teachers celebrated Literacy Day with a variety of fun, educational, and imaginative activities. The celebration was made even more special by a visit from students in the Education Department at Liberty University who led interactive lessons designed to deepen the students’ understanding of stories and foster a love for reading.

Throughout the day, Liberty University students engaged classrooms in creative learning experiences focused on key literacy concepts like character traits, conflict and resolution, the role of emotions in storytelling, story elements, and figurative language. Through games, discussions, and hands-on activities, Faith Christian Academy students explored how stories are built and what makes them come to life.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing students dressed as their favorite book characters. The hallways were filled with colorful costumes and smiles as characters like Dog Man, Cinderella, Nancy Drew, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Matilda, Charlotte (from Charlotte’s Web), and Mercy Watson roamed. The creativity and enthusiasm of the students was amazing to experience.

“Literacy Day is all about helping our students see how powerful and fun reading can be,” said one Faith Christian Academy teacher. “Having the Liberty University students here to guide these activities made the experience even better. It was great to see our students learning and having fun.”

The event combined learning and play reminding everyone that stories are not just words on a page, they are journeys, lessons, and sparks for the imagination. Faith Christian Academy’s Literacy Day was a celebration of the joy of reading and the power of education.
